An Open Letter to Senator (Dr.) Abubakar Bukola Saraki.

Dear Senator (Dr.) Abubakar Bukola Saraki,
I will like to use this medium to reach out to you and let you know that Nigerians both home and abroad, have missed the quality leadership and selfless service that you offered between 2015-2019 as the leader of the Nigerian National Assembly.

Under your watch as the Senate President, we saw an ‘Independent’ Senate which is contrary to what we now witness.
You were able to lead the Nigerian Senate against the enemies of the masses, who were as a result, determined to drag your father’s name in the mud through series of witch-hunting.

It is now very clear to us, how you took stabs on our behalf. You protected our democracy with the God’s given privilege and the people’s mandate, which you were distracted to enjoy. As a two-time Governor of Kwara state, you already knew that power was transient, therefore, you cherished legacy rather than popularity.

I want to particularly thank you on behalf of the vulnerable Nigerians that you stood by. I appreciate you for choosing the side of the masses despite having the opportunity to do otherwise.

Bukola, you were blackmailed, you were called names and even victimized for speaking the truth. Sadly, most of the people you fought for were too innocent to realize how much you cared about them.

Most of them were brainwashed into believing that you were their problem, thus, they hated and rebelled you. But as a democrat and a pious leader that you have trained to be, then became, you apparently demonstrated the value of ‘peace and forgiveness’ beyond mere ‘lip service’.

My namesake, I can assure you that you have been vindicated. Many of those who called for your head are now hoping that the hands of clock could be reversed. More than ever ‘Bukky’, you now have more supporters. Every one now know who the real enemies of democracy are and where they are hiding, just that none of us has got the balls to take them on like ABS, our unsung hero.

Finally, I do hope that destiny brings this piece to your table, for you to read, so that you may realize how much we have missed you. I do also hope that in the nearest future, I will have the opportunity to be on a dinner table with the leader who is so dear to my heart, Senator (Dr.) Abubakar Bukola Saraki.

Yours Faithfully,
Maiyaki Abubakar Damilare
